Laser Pump Chamber

A laser chamber in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention redirects the shock waves away from the discharge area and into other areas of the laser chamber where the shock waves can be dissipated. In conventional systems, the walls of the laser chamber, the heat exchanger and/or other components within the laser chamber provide surfaces for shock waves to be deflected back into the discharge region, thereby disturbing the energy stability of subsequent pulses.

A laser pump chamber consists of stainless steel or non-metal body, gold-coated elliptical or alumina diffuse reflector, series or parallel cooling path, high UV absorbing flow tubes, crystal & lamp waterjackets, parallel lamp trigger connector, coolant fitting, O-rings, lamp, laser rod.

Single or dual lamp high-efficiency laser pump chambers can accommodate laser rods of 3 to 10 mm in diameter and up to 180mm in length. There are two types of laser pump chamber.

Gold-coated laser pump chambers/cavities:

Single-lamp cavity (single lamp and single rod); dual-lamp cavity (double lamp and single rod).The coated gold insulator in a laser chamber that is common.

Ceramic laser pump chambers/cavities:

Single-lamp cavity (single lamp and single rod); dual-lamp cavity (double lamp and single rod). Its main advantages are long life time.

The coated ceramic insulator in a laser chamber that is exposed to a gaseous environment where impurities in the ceramic insulator are prevented from detrimentally contaminating the laser chamber by a high-purity insulating coating. The insulating coating prevents chemical interactions between the ceramic insulator and the gaseous environment. In particular, the coating prevents contamination, by impurities in the ceramic insulator, of the lasing gas.
